Headway Essex would like to thank Taylor Rose for their generous contribution to our Colchester Support Group through sponsorship and the time they have given to our group members.
Headway Essex supports people with acquired brain injury to help get their life back on track following a brain injury. We have made a commitment to ensure that anyone in Essex living with an acquired brain injury can live a fulfilling life and that families and carers are better able to cope within their caring roles.
As well as the day service at our two centres in Colchester and Benfleet we hold regular support meetings. Life for people with a brain injury life can sometimes be quite different to life before their injury and the support groups offer a safe space to meet other people facing similar challenges.
At the groups we hear from experts in brain injury care and rehabilitation and share information that’s practical, constructive, and helpful. Just as importantly the groups offer emotional support and, through hearing from others facing similar life changes, members are able to develop a renewed sense of purpose, create new social structures and share practical strategies and techniques to manage personal challenges.
Understanding the importance of these support groups law firm Taylor Rose has generously sponsored our Colchester Support Group for 6 months.
The group meets monthly and Caroline Kempster, Head of Personal Injury at Taylor Rose, regularly joins the group to meet, support and share knowledge with the attendees, their families and the Headway team.
” Taylor Rose is proud to be supporting Headway Essex such a worthwhile organisation for those who have suffered life-changing head Injuries. Headway Essex forms an immensely important part of the community providing a safe haven for their clients and support with life skills. I am delighted to be a part of this amazing work”
Sam Preston is our Brain Injury Caseworker and works in our communities. She sees first-hand the difference that the groups make to people’s progress.
“As the facilitator of our North East Essex support group for brain injury survivors, I am extremely proud of the strength and resilience of our attendees. Each month our group brings together remarkable individuals who share their journeys, fears, and triumphs in a safe space of understanding and compassion.
What really stands out is the way the attendees inspire one another. Watching them grow (both personally and as a group) is great to see. The bonds formed at our support group meetings create a safe environment where shared experiences offer healing and hope. It’s heart-warming to see attendees not just navigate their own journeys, but also actively support each other, building a network of encouragement and understanding as each survivor can relate to one another in a way that not many other people can. They lift each other up, offering invaluable peer support that transforms feelings of isolation into a sense of belonging. It is a space where people can be themselves and not have to explain their difficulties to the group as they are accepted for who they are.
The support group exemplifies the power of peer support, proving that together, survivors can face challenges that might feel impossible to do alone. I am grateful to be part of this inspiring journey and to witness the impact of the connections made at our groups.
Thank you to Caroline and Taylor Rose for their commitment to the group and to all who contribute to making this group what it is today”
