Whilst we are unable to recommend or endorse specific organisations, and would always encourage you to make your own enquiries, we have pulled together a selection of links to other websites that you might find useful.
Each link will open up a new window to the respective website, although please let us know if any of the links no longer work or lead to the wrong place.
In Essex around 18,000 people provide unpaid care or support to an adult family member or friend and there are a number of organisations and resources you might find helpful.
Carers FIRST has been commissioned by Essex County Council to provide services to those who are looking after a relative or friend who could not manage without their support. They provide information and advice to carers to support them with their caring role and opportunities for them to meet others in a similar situation to gain peer support. This is a county wide service, excluding Southend and Thurrock.
For information about your rights as a carer, Living Well Essex will provide some information on what financial help you might be entitled to, and where to go for advice and support.
It’s not always easy to know exactly where to go to for advice on health and social care, but Health Watch Essex is a good central place to start for support in Essex.
If you want more information about finding care and support in the form of formal care, you can search for regional care providers by visiting Care Choices.
